The Case of Two Brands of Honey Roasted Peanuts
I wondered why my body was on fire each time I ate as little as 10 pieces of Walmart's Great Value Honey Roasted Peanuts. Pins jabbed me on the inside. I resolved to find out the reason.
Walmart's Great Value Honey Roasted peanuts had many things to which I am allergic. The ingredients included peanut oil (double allergy), vegetable oil (probably corn--my worst allergy), cottonseed oil, soybean oil, and sunflower oil. I am allergic to tree nuts and oils from seeds, maltodextrin (corn or wheat--other horrible allergies), and xanthan gum.
The warning said that it contains these allergies of mine: Tree nuts, other nuts, and all other things to which I am allergic--coconut (my horrible allergy), almonds, cashews, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pine nuts, wheat, pecans (another horrible allergy), sesame seeds (another horrible allergy).
It's no wonder my body was on fire. Thank God I didn't go into anaphylaxis and be forced to jab myself with EpiPen.
Kroger's Honey Roasted Peanuts contain cornstarch (one of my worst allergies).
Walmart's warning said "Contains..."

Walmart's peanuts contain six active ingredients that are oils from seeds. Kroger's peanuts contain ONLY one ingredient to which I am allergic: Cornstarch.
Peanuts are not tree nuts. They are the only nuts I can eat (to a limited extent).
Walmart's peanuts have more calories (30 calories), more total and saturated fat, more sodium, less dietary fiber, but more protein (1g) and less carb (1%) than Kroger's.
