Lasagna for Christmas

This Christmas, I wanted to try nontraditional dishes since most people seem to duplicate the dishes from Thanksgiving. I decided for the first time to prepare lasagna for Christmas since rice and Macaroni and Cheese are so overdone.
Why lasagna?

Cassie bought the pasta and wanted to make it several weeks ago, but like moi-moi, the lasagna dish is more challenging and more sophisticated to prepare than most of its pasta sibs. Spaghetti is too low-key, too casual to serve for a formal dinner. There is no doubt that beef tastes better, but instead of ground beef (for health reasons), use ground turkey. We started with ground turkey, then prepared the tomato sauce (and several herbs and spices), and layered everything in between the al dente lasagna.
Hot water, salt, and butter for lasagna.
From top (in the Blue Willow plate--right): Golden brown roll, moi-moi, cabbage, dressing, green beans, turkey with no gravy, and very deep lasagna; four layers deep!
 Look at all those cheeses!
